There’s a strong possibility that you’ve already heard of or seen some light graffiti. Perhaps you’ve even given it a twirl yourself? Modern Light Artists such as Michael Bosanko & a few others have been doing some pretty great stuff over the years… but none stand out quite as much as Frenchman Julien Breton (aka Kaalam), who’s work centers around his very own Arabic-Latin hybrid calligraphy. The website is in French, but that shouldn’t stop you from drooling over his fantastic portfolio – our personal favourite being Under The City.

3 Dimensions. They’ve been around for quite some time now. It’s something the human species deals with quite well actually. We find three dimensions pretty cozy. Unfortunately, that hasn’t stopped every major product manufacturer & movie producer from jumping on the 3D bandwagon lately. What may actually be far superior to all that claptrap is this visually intoxicating wallpaper. Although not truly ’3D’ images, it cleverly uses different light conditions to display different parts of the picture. More eye-candy & a much better desciption available at the link.

Continuing on our somewhat quasi-theme of local talent is none other than Duane Smith. The man seems to pop up at EVERY super-fly event in this town & has an awesome personal portfolio. Go see for yourself.

You can forget the Academy Awards, BAFTAs, MTV Movie Awards or any of that other bollocks, the movie of the year has to be Drive. Not to be confused with that awful nauseous Hollywood mulch Drive Angry.

Without giving too much away, it’s a masterful blend of cinematography & screenwriting. Director Refn administers an injection of tension & adrenaline in equal amounts into what appears to begin as an apathetic plot, transforming it into a gritty modern classic. Why are we telling you this? Apart from strongly suggesting you watch it, it’s the soundtrack that caught our ears & sets this apart from anything else you have stashed in your collection… Cliff Martinez is the working man’s Trent Reznor. Sublime soundscapes & equally interesting tracks from Kavinsky & Lovefoxxx, College, Electric Youth & The Chromatics.
